GMDMA Meeting of april 03, 2025

    CU Boulder's Racist Hiring Practices

Superintendent Patrick L. Demmer discussed Mayor Wellington Webb's recent Press Release as he says, “I want to know if the regents [at CU] want to go on record as being the most segregated university under their tenure when the history of Colorado is written,” Webb asked at a press conference. “You cannot have an institution that’s all white and the team all Black; that based upon the visual itself speaks of segregation.” The article may be viewed on CPR News https://www.cpr.org/2025/03/21/mayor-webb-calls-on-cu-regents-to-review-university-hiring-practices/

Elias Diggins, Sheriff of Denver City & County

     Guest Speaker, Sheriff Elias Diggins:

He thanked the Alliance for inviting him to speak today as well as for supporting him before and now during his tenure as the Sheriff of the City and County of Denver County Jail. He shared how God placed him in his current position and he doesn’t take it for granted for the tremendous impact he has been able to make on the community. He also shared information on programs that have been implemented in both The Denver County Jail and Downtown Detention Center, i.e.  both have video visitation for most inmates now. He also spoke on housing and community services are now available for military veterans such as housing and health. They receive many services through The Denver Sheriff’s Department.
