Bishop Dr. Jerry Ayiku Demmer is first and foremost a servant of God.
He is also Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Absolute Word Church, CEO of One Accord Movement Ministry. He was consecrated Bishop of Living Word Ministries International in August 2017 and installed President of the Greater Metropolitan Denver Ministerial Alliance during the Investiture Service of January 2019.
A Retiree and Entrepreneur: Bishop Demmer retired from Denver Water Department where he worked for 25 years. As an entrepreneur, he established AFMERICA clothing line and JK Realty. In May 2007, he founded The Absolute Word Church, where he is Senior Pastor. His other accomplishments include:
Former Co-Director and Business Manager of HOPE at Parkhill Learning Academy Charter School; former Host at Sonny Lawson Park of City and County Denver Parks and Recreation; Past Board Chair for FaithBridge, a non-profit organization; Board Member of Energize Colorado Gap Fund; Board Member of HOPE Online Learning Academy Co-Op; and Chaplain of the Colorado State Senate;
Bishop Demmer is former owner of the five-year KDLC Shine 1220 "Time for a Change” and www.Godswordtv.com which aired regularly on Sundays.
His Outreach Ministries: include Tamar Men’s Ministry, AWC Street Feeding, Fatherhood/Fatherless Mentorship Program, Gang prevention and intervention, Prison Outreach, Prison Letter Writing Ministry, St. James 1:27 Outreach, Drug and Alcohol Abuse Classes; and The Absolute Word Childcare, formerly owned and operated by his wife, Katrina (Lady K) Demmer and himself.
Appointments and Affiliations: Bishop Demmer was appointed Manager of Safety for the City and County of Denver to lead a Gang Symposium, and he is affiliated with many other non-profit organizations including Denver Parks and Recreation Center Task Force, Denver Crime Prevention and Control Commission / Gang Coalition, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado, Inc. mentorship program, and the U.S. Census 2010 and 2020.
One Step Forward: In 2022, Bishop Demmer along with Administrative Assistant Patrick Demmer and Elder Sharon Alexander Holt launched One step forward. These community programs are comprise of Boy2Men mentorship program and Conflict Management Program.
Education:
Bishop Demmer Received an honorary Doctorate Degree from Harvest Bible College; he studied at Metropolitan State College of Denver for Drug and Alcohol Counseling, was ordained in the Church of God in Christ, and is a Certified Teacher for the Evangelical Training Association. He is a Denver native and began preaching at the age of 22 as he Co-Pastored at Globeville/ Graham Memorial Community Church of God in Christ for 17 years. He and his wife Lady K, have been married for 25 years, and have 7 children, 22 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Position by title of Civic Engagement, he served as a liaison for the Colorado Jurisdiction at large between all affinity groups of the Church of God in Christ as he worked with other community organizations, such as but not limited to the Urban League the NAACP, the Black Chamber of Commerce, and the City or State Advisory Councils.
Vice President of Community Affairs:
His current role in the GMDMA is Vice President of Community Affairs which includes being a liaison to the Mayor’s Office of Denver, the Governor’s Office of the State of Colorado, and the Colorado State Attorney General’s Office, the Black Caucus, or all matters dealing with Community Affairs.
