Dr. H Malcolm Newton

Dr. H. Malcolm Newton, a native of Philadelphia,  is an Urban Theologian and a prominent, provocative, and prophetic pragmatist in the African American grain.  He contributes his inspiration to his grandmother who raised him and to his Faith. His passion is rooted in the community of interfaith and bearing witness to the power of love and justice. 

Dr. Newton is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served and retired as Chaplain. 

His Education

He is a Harvard University Divinity School, Dallas Theological Seminary and Cheyney University (HBCU) graduate. His post-graduate studies were at Oxford University and University of Cape Town, South Africa.  

An Entrepreneur and Business Mogul

Malcolm is founder and President of Denver Institute of Urban Studies 

CEO of Urban Tikkun Centre in Aurora, CO, a space for racial healing, repairing, and transforming the world.  

Founding President of United Alliance for African Communities in Colorado. 

Co-founder and former Chairman of the African Chamber of Commerce of Colorado, USA. 

Founder and CEO of the Pan-African Business Council. 

Founding Chairman of the board for American Pathways University in Denver, Colorado.  

Business Accomplishments

He is the recipient of a $3.6 million Energy Grant 

Project Manager of the Denver Green Jobs Initiative (Pathways Out of Poverty Federal grant 2010-2012) 

Supported the training of over 1,000 residents of Northeast Denver in: 

• Renewable Energy such as Solar, 
• Wind Application,
• Green Construction, and 
• Energy Auditors and placed over 400 people in Career jobs.
